in the afternoon of april 27, 2013, internet society of china (isc) established internet industry public welfare and charity alliance (hereafter referred to as “alliance”) in beijing. the founding conference was presided over by mr. shi xiansheng, the deputy secretary-general of isc.
ms. ran xiaoyan, the director of isc business department, delivered a report on the preparatory work of the alliance and read off the list of the 23 founder companies. the bylaws of the alliance (draft) was deliberated and approved at the conference. mr. shi xiansheng was elected as the secretary-general of the alliance and ms. ran xiaoyan was elected as the deputy secretary-general.
mr. lu wei, the secretary-general of isc, appreciated the supports from the organization members and internet companies as well as their trust. mr. lu pointed out that it is necessary to found such a alliance to integrate dispersed resources, which may exert significant effects on china’s public welfare development, even the progress of the whole society.
the work schedule of the alliance in the near term was released:
1.collecting the information of the public welfare activities that the alliance members did after ya’an earthquake and encouraged these actions by posting relevant news on the isc websites and through other media.
2.integrating the public welfare resources of the alliance members to organize the post-earthquake donations.
3.organizing post-disaster reconstruction project.
4.organizing the “2013 internet public welfare award” event, to honor the internet companies for their outstanding contributions in public welfare programs.
since the establishment, internet society of china (isc) organized a variety of internet public welfare activities adhering to the aim of “bridging the digital divide and constructing the internet beneficial to all”. isc remarked each may 25 as the “e-charity day”, the day of 2001 when isc was founded. the founding of the alliance will greatly improve the advantages complementary and information sharing among the members, and make greater contributions by joint efforts.
in the future, the alliance will continuously exert the advantages of civil society in internet industry, coordinating the existing internet resources, such as public welfare channels, microblogs and online forums, as well as further enhancing sharing of internet public welfare information and establishing a new platform for public welfare activities.
